I worked as a vet at Canberra Veterinary Hospital for more than a year and found the facilities at the clinic simply amazing- whether consult rooms, dog and cat wards, prep area, dental station or theatres, all rooms are spacious and well laid out. There is also a well equipped staff kitchen/dining room and a room for vets to write up cases, make phone calls and check the comprehensive library. The same can be said for the equipment- high end ultrasound, digital x-rays, endoscopy (with dedicated video-otoscope) and laparoscopy equipment, tonopen and slit lamp: almost everything that could be wanted to work up cases thoroughly. And the surgeon will find a wide choice of tools for both soft-tissue and orthopaedic surgery.

Like most vet practices, the workload could be demanding and stress levels were sometimes high- thorough working up of cases is expected and gold standard treatment is always offered. Not a place to sit back and take it easy!

The co-operation between colleagues has always been amazing- cases are discussed between vets, and the whole team from reception staff over nurses to vets is a truly friendly and supportive bunch of people. One more thing that needs mentioning- the level of nursing care and the dedication of the nursing staff is probably the best I have witnessed anywhere.

I worked at Canberra Veterinary Hospital for 3 months as a locum vet and absolutely loved it. The practice is a beautiful big purpose build hospital with all the equipment a modern vet could wish for! I found the working hours and schedule really well planned and the management staff approachable and supportive. I was able to enjoy a good amount of time outside of work and found Canberra a really lovely city. The support staff at the practice are friendly, hard working and easy to get on with. The standard of nursing at the practice is excellent, with a full team of extremely competent and skilled nurses working 7 days a week. Consultation times are well planned and supported and the client base of the practice is fantastic – I have never met a nicer bunch of clients who are interested in preventative healthcare, willing to take advice and happy to spend the money required on their pets. There is a good caseload, both medical and surgical, with plenty of time available for vets to work through things, and a lot of opportunity to discuss cases with the other clinicians. Overall, it’s a perfect place to work for anyone who wishes to practice best medicine and provide a high standard of care with a team of highly motiviated and forward thinking vets and nurses who are always looking to progress and improve, while still managing a good work life balance!

I spent three very enjoyable months at Canberra Veterinary Hospital as a locum vet. Even though I was only there for a relatively short period of time, I have to say it was definitely one of my favourite places that I have ever worked. The facilities are second to none and all the mod-cons you could ask for are all available. The entire team are wonderful to work with from the friendly and welcoming receptionists to some of the most talented and experienced nurses I have ever had the pleasure of working with. There is a great team of vets who are very supportive and knowledgeable and enjoy discussing intereseting and complicated cases at rounds, which is held twice a day. The hospital has a wonderful client base who are very proactive and keen to do all they can for their pets and all are dream clients! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Canberra Veterinary Hospital as a great place to work.

My time spent as an employee of Canberra Veterinary Hospital as a member of the Receptionist team, was a great experience.

ALL the staff that work at CVH are highly proffessional, brilliant and driven with regard to the animals they care for and the service that they provide.

On a daily basis, being surrounded by such passionate people; vets, nurses and admin staff, was inspiring… Not to mention the role I got to play, in being a part of such a positive and friendly team of receptionists, who pride themselves and gain satisfaction by providing clients and their pets with the best kind of old fashioned and high quality customer service.

All together I really enjoyed my time at CVH and I learned a lot.

Working as a receptionist at Canberra Veterinary Hospital was a fantastic experience. The role itself was diverse, and allowed me to take on more responsibility when I was ready. The people were incredible – vets, nurses, receptionists – everyone quickly became friends as well as colleagues. Working alongside such a friendly and supportive people made it easy to get up and go to work every day.

CVH was a wonderful place to learn. I was surprised how much knowledge I gained – information seminars were frequently held for all members of staff, and the teams of vets and nurses were always happy to demonstrate, explain or inform.

By far the most important considerations at CVH were patient care and client relations. All pets were provided with the best possible care, and close relationships between staff members, pets and their owners were encouraged.

My time at Canberra Veterinary Hospital was truly unforgettable; I will always be grateful for the knowledge and experience I gained, as well as the amazing people and pets I got to know so well.
