Dr Michael Archinal

BVSc, IVAS(Cert), PTC(Hons) - Senior Small Animal Partner

Michael is the Senior Small Animal Partner in the practice. He graduated from Sydney University in 1987 and after five years in country practice, started the Bateman's Bay Veterinary Hospital. After five years of very successful practice, he was recruited as a partner here in 1996. Michael is a qualified acupuncturist having been awarded the IVAS diploma in acupuncture and has undertaken post-graduate training in dermatology and animal behaviour. He is married to Jodie, and has three sons and two Labradors named Rosie and Genie. How he combines family life, football refereeing, a single digit golf handicap, commitments in his local church, a television, radio and print career and veterinary practice remains one of the great secrets. Michael is currently studying for his MACVS in Pharmacology.

Dr Libby Adamson

BVSc (Hons) BAvSci (Hons) MACVSc

Libby grew up on a farm in Victoria, and studied at the University of Melbourne.  Prior to joining the team at Canberra Veterinary Hospital in 2002, she worked in a variety of jobs both in Australia and England. During her years at Canberra Veterinary Hospital she has completed further study in feline medicine and ophthalmology and is a Member of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists (MACVS) in feline medicine. She has a dog called Cisco, a tan and white boxer cross who thinks he is the most handsome dog ever, and a cat Hydey, a 15 year old tortoishell who knows exactly how to put Cisco in his place. In her spare time Libby likes to ride bicycles and drink coffee. She has travelled extensively including trips to Timor, India, France, Italy, Croatia, Sri Lanka, Argentina, Chile, Morocco, Syria, Jordan, Israel, Egypt, England and Nepal.

 

 Dr Gillian Lynch

Gill was born in the UK, and graduated from Sydney University in 1999. Her main interests are canine and feline internal medicine and she has completed further study in small animal critical care and emergency medicine. She has a 6 year old brown tabby called Thabo, and a 16 week old silver tabby called Luna, although her son would like a dinosaur as a pet!  Her spare time is spent playing with the kids, going to the gym, bushwalking or down at the beach.

 Dr Winston Oakes

BVSc (Hons I) BSc (vet) MACVSc

Winston was born and raised in Canberra before studying Veterinary Science at the University of Sydney, graduating in 1999.   Since graduation, he has worked as a small animal and emergency vet in Adelaide and Sydney, as well as in the UK.  Winston joined the team at the Canberra Veterinary Hospital in 2004, and has subsequently completed further study in the field of cardiorespiratory medicine and abdominal ultrasound, and is now head of the ultrasound team. In 2008, he successfully completed examinations for Membership of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in the field of Small Animal Dentistry and Oral surgery (MACVSc). Winston lives with his wife, Lucy and their two children, two dogs and two cats and quite a few chooks. Winston is currently studying for a second MACVSc this time in Small Animal Internal Medicine.

 

 Dr Vicki Saye

BVSc (Hons I) MACVSc (Surgery)

Vickie grew up in Canberra and trained as a vet in Sydney, graduating in 2003 with first class honours. She has gained Memberships in Small Animal Surgery, and regularly spends time with specialist surgeons in Sydney, with interests including Orthopaedics and Cancer Surgery. Vickie has also completed a course in Advanced Feline Orthopaedics. She plays ultimate Frisbee and has competed Australia-wide as well as in Europe and North America. Her spare time is spent playing ultimate, orienteering and doing anything hands-on. Vickie’s favourite film is Wall-E.

 Dr Margie Roser

BVSc (Hons I)

Margie has completed a distance education course in Emergency Medicine and critical Care and is currently studying for her MACVSc in the same subject.

 Dr Siobhan Gibbons

BVSc

Siobhan trained in Perth and graduated in 2004. Her particular areas of interest include cats and imaging, and she has completed a distance education course in radiology. She enjoys doing ultrasounds and treating cancer patients, her favourite animals are whales, elephants and cats. She plays and watches soccer in her spare time as well as drinking coffee, and supports the Socceroos! She enjoys travelling and has visited Europe, Malaysia, the USA and Canada.

 

Dr Ken Loh

BVSc (Hons I) BSc (vet)(Hons)

Ken was born in Malaysia, and also grew up in Singapore and Sydney. He graduated from Sydney University in 2008 with honours. He moved to Canberra in 2009 to work as a small animal veterinarian. His interest is Radiology and has completed a year of research at University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Sydney on ultrasonography of tumours in dogs. He has a crossbred Chihuahua called Bobby, and his spare time is occupied with home improvements. Ken is currently studying for his Master of Veterinary Studies in Small Animal Practice through Murdoch University.

 

Dr Jennifer Newitt

DVM MSc

Jen grew up in London, but has also lived in the Caribbean and Australia. She completed a degree in Zoology follow by an MSc in Wild Animal Health at the Royal Veterinary College before changing career and studying Vet medicine, graduating from St Georges University in 2008. She enjoys travelling, keeping fit, drinking coffee, and anything in the sunshine. Her favourite animals are donkeys and meerkats.

Dr Amy Shergold

BVSc (Merit)

Amy was born in Sydney but moved to Canberra when she was seven years old. Initially upset about the move, her parents bribed her with the offer of horse riding in Canberra. After finishing year 12 she went on to work with horses full-time for four years in both Australia and the US. She also spent 6 months living and working on a beef cattle property in Braidwood. In 2004 she decided to pursue her childhood dream of becoming a vet and began a Science Degree at the ANU. She received her veterinary training at the University of Sydney, graduating with Merit in 2010. She developed a keen interest in small animal medicine and enjoys spending her days working with dogs and cats (and rabbits, guinea pigs, mice… ). She is also undertaking post-graduate study in wildlife at the ANU. In her time off she still loves to ride horses. She also has a great time skiing with family and friends and has been lucky enough to ski in Australia, NZ, the US, Europe and Japan.

Dr Kimberley Orth

BVSc (Hons)

Kimberley was born on the Gold Coast and studied at the University of Queensland, graduating in 2003 with honours. After working in small animal practice in Brisbane for a couple of years she travelled to the UK to locum in London and the surrounding counties. Initially only planning to stay for 1 or 2 years, Kimberley ended up staying in England for 5 years and enjoyed extensive travel throughout Europe. Kimberley joined Canberra Veterinary Hospital in 2010 and she is currently studying for her MACVSc in small animal medicine. She has recently begun Triathalon training for the upcoming Tri season.
